Kasargod Kerala

Kasargod, the land of lakes is one of the prides of Kerala. It is the northern most district of Kerala that has Western Ghats in the East and Arabian Sea in the West.

Kasargod is noted for its extraordinary handloom and coir industries. Water bodies, rich green forest and mineral resources are its treasured possessions. Trikaripur and Talapadi rivers distinguish North from South. Serene climate, silent lagoons, dense greenery makes the scene of Kasargod more attractive. Hence, there is nothing be surprised that Kasargod has become the center of tourism. People of Kasargod live by fishing. Kasargod also has numerous places of interest. Kasargod tells the history of ancient rule that existed here. Bekal Fort, the pride of Kasargod was once a part of Kadampa dynasty that later came under the control of Kolathiris and finally became a part of Vijayanagara Empire.

• Bekal Beach- 16km South of NH47 is a place of great historical importance.
• Bekal Fort- is noted for its archeological significance. It is the largest and the best-preserved beach in Kerala.
• Sivappa Nayaka of Bedanore- hosts an ancient mosque.
• Manjeswaram- is a cashew rich town that homes about fifteen mosques.
• Sree Mahalingeswara Temple- is a temple with beautiful surroundings and has inscriptions inside in Kannada script.
• Thyrikkanaya temple at Bekal- an ancient Kizhur state temple.
